Has anyone from here been to this before? I know we have several Ohio peeps here.

Visitors Center for our 36th Annual Bonsai Show from 10am – 6pm.

Wanted to go last year and may try to make it this year for the first time.

ya, i go usually every year. it's pretty fun. the arboretum itself is great! and the show feels very open, and not too crammed. there are some vendors there. unfortunately, i can't go this year!

Thanks. Must be ok if you drive from Dayton more than once:) I'm about an hour East of it.

I didn't go last year, but took some trees for the previous year. It seemed ok, the vendor area was not all that if you ask me. But that was 2 years ago...
The arboretum is wonderful and well worth a trip for that alone. It's BIG!

Odd, I just took a look at that special events page to see when it is this year, and it's not listed. What are the dates?

Ah, I didn't notice at the end of the plant sale thing. Only one day this year, instead of two.

Actually I live in Cincinnati, but I have relatives in Columbus...usually stay with them the day before then go to Dawes the next day :)

I decided to go and I'd have to say I was a little disappointed. The arboretum itself was great, but the bonsai show was lacking to say the least. There were only a dozen or so trees and no vendors at all. There was one really nice scots pine that I really enjoyed though.

Thats kind of sad. The one year I took a few trees, there were at least 40 trees displayed.

Being new, I have nothing to compare, but I enjoyed it. I admit to having higher expectations.
The Japanese Garden was very nice.
I guess about 15 trees outside and 20 in?
Too bad it was crap weather...

Indoor. Forest speak to me... Gata try one soon.
Wished I'd came home with something. Only a handful of for sale stuff inside and none really spoke to me. I later regretted not buying that larger Juniper for 12 bucks just because.

Grimmy suggested Cotton Easter to me. First I've seen one and I like.
Didn't go to the plant sale side as it looked mostly landscape type stuff.
On the way out I spotted a couple tables full of small plants over there. Wondered all the way home whether it was pre-bonsai stuff that I missed looking at??? Almost turned around...

The Japanese Garden walk was very nice too.
We'll be back. Glad it's only an hour for me. Had I drove further for the Bonsai Show alone I might have been disappointed. I was a pretty good way to kill a cold rainy day. Had it been nicer, I probably would have found something else to do:)

There were only a dozen or so trees
Did you by chance miss the indoor display? We almost did on our way out until I caught sight of a tree in next room.

I did see it, that's what I was talking about being kind of a disappointment. I figured there'd be many more trees in the actual show. But it was nice, I want that scots pine that was displayed.

I thought there were going to be vendors?
