Obtained this Cedrus atlantica ‘Silberspitz’ last year. Massive 50 gallon nursery stock mainly in clay soil,

Been waiting for about a year to do the repot and reveal the nebari. Now will wait for another 2-3 years before working on the design, will let it grow. Will track progress here.

How is this tree doing? that was a pretty radical repot from what I've read about cedar root reduction sensitivity.

It did really well, the buds opened up fully, and now it is actively putting a second flush. First 4 weeks it was under partial shade, then was moved slowly to full sun. The past month and a half it has been in full sun. A few of the third needles dropped early on but I believe it is the natural tendency to drop 3-4 year old needles on Cedrus.

That’s impressive!

Nice, was it totally dormant at repot, or pushing buds?

Pushing buds, was the last tree to be repotted, April 1st. Decided on repot according to bud push rather than a specific date. Here is a picture of how the majority of the buds looked right before repotting:

Any update on this cedar?
Sadly this one did not make it. Moved 2 years ago to another city. Unfortunately those 2 years were some of the worst drought and heat years ever recorded in Central Texas. Wasn’t ready for it at my new place. If I tried again with this species here in Central Texas, I would provide it with heavier shade during the summer and would be more careful with salt build up.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear. Looking forward to seeing your new trees.
