Trimmed and re-wired this fella the past few days. Buds are moving faster now. Tree is pot grown 30+ yrs from pencil thin seedling. Am watching the crown as I have not wired some of it as to allow for future positions when tree breaks bud. Height is about 17" [43cm] Before and after...

Needs repot in a month or so but today I trimmed back and started the two air layers shown. Last year I planed her seeds (which most are well over 1’ [20-25cm]and also gathered a successful airlayer of which I’ll check and see how the roots have progressed while in a basic bonsai mix. Will post that later.
This a pot I’d made way back and am now back in the “pot” business again as I’m a professor at Merced College for the ceramics dept. As the Spring semester unfolds I’ll post pots for sale! Yea!

oh, the scruffy top are my two air layers so not much trimmed.

I really like this tree, nice work! As you develop the apex, it may be time to consider the final movement of the tree, to right or left?

I favor movement to the right, making the first right branch the primary branch. As such, I would favor reducing the lowest left branch, and avoid it getting too thick. My humble opinion only. Good luck, great tree, keep us posted.

James thank you. I seem to think you a traditionalist in styling. Yes this the direction yet the lower two branches non the left side will stay and get a tad longer. I will develop the upper right hand side yes for balance.
As you can see I’m using this girl as a cow for calving a few babies….
