Hello Bonsai people,

I come to you with a question concerning the bark of a camellia. I noticed that it's cracking in some points: I have very little experience about this species (I acquired this one couple of years ago), I was only able to see young garden plants or old specimens in bonsai exhibitions. In both cases, the bark was smooth as everything, so I was wondering if you could help me out in making sense of this. I attach some photos (also of the whole plants, which shows a nice healthy green colour) and I thank you all in advance!

Strange🤨. However looks healthy. Why worry🤔? Possible bark of trunk exposed to too much hot Sun? Believe these do best in partial shade.

Oh not really worried, just sharing with other camellia owners/enthusiasts to better understand the barking process of the species. At first I thought it was some kind of dieback but then again I have no clues to believe so apart from this uncanny cracking pattern which I've never seen on camellias before.
