Anyone know what plant/bush this is? It's been in my yard for a long time (30 years).

Any help appreciated.

Also.. is this type of plant possible or ideal to make into a bonsai? (maybe from taking cuttings or air-layers from it)

Just a guess a varigated wax leaf privet. I could be wrong. The leaves are pretty big not sure if they would reduce for bonsai.

It doesn’t flower like the privet and its’ new branches/growths don’t look like the privet’s straight, woody branches that grow straight upward (from google pics).

Is it a euonymus? I incidentally saw this while searching privet, and its’ rounder leaves/tips and Soft new branches/growths look more similar to a euonymus. The new branches also slightly droop like the pics of euonymus I see on google. I’m unsure though.

There are gold variegated euonymus varieties and those do have glossy leaves like your plant. My guess is it is some sort of euonymus but you have not really given us much to go on for ID though. I assume this is a smallish shrub but it helps to have good clear pics of the leaf, how the leaves are attached to the stem (opposite or alternate, petioles, etc) and can sometimes help to have a shot of the bark and trunk too. Any flowers, fruit or buds can help a lot if the tree has any. Growth habit - tree, shrub, one trunk, many trunks, etc is also useful to narrow down possibilities.

Here are some pics.

I doesn’t grow tall...it’s a shrub, always under 4-5’ tall (it could’ve been pruned occasionally though for reduction, idk).

Kinda has a slight weeping habit when new growth gets longer/weighty.

No flowers nor fruit that I’ve ever seen.
