So I have this Giant Sequoia that has been thriving all year in this pond basket in pretty much full sun (El Cerrito in the Bay Area Zone 9b) but as the sun’s gotten lower it had been mostly shaded in the later fall. At the beginning of December I moved it and a couple coast redwoods up higher so they would catch more rays. Now, a week later, I’m seeing browning. It also has been fairly chilly but nothing like its winter temps in its natural range.

Kinda figured it would have appreciated the extra sun, but was that too fast of a transition?

Or is it more likely a watering problem? first two pics are today and yesterday, with a pic from late November before moving it.

Thanks!

Sequoia do this in winter. I wouldn't worry about it.

Couldnt help but notice that you also uploaded a couple of photos of ponderosa pine, stating their ages? Isnt 245 a bit too inflated, like their price?

I took a look at that website, i wouldnt buy from there.

heh, yeah, i’d mistakenly selected a few extra pics from my phone scrolling back to select earlier pics of the sequoia… The dude from golden arrow flagged that the 245 was a typo, it’s supposed to be 25 years.
