Picked up a couple more trees at the local landscape nursery yesterday, this Bosnian Pine, and 2 boxwood.

Opinions? Figured it was a solid tree for $49.99, and loved the taper.

Hopefully you checked under the bag? these are almost always grafted.
Personally had one not grafted. Was strong healthy tree. Needles stiff, SHARP like spines, buds back well (or mine did), relatively thick candles/new growth. Uninteresting boring straight trunk. Would cut back to first lowest branch with any ramification to be new trunk🤔.

Yeah, buds all down every branch on this one, it will definitely be cut way back

I bought this 2 years ago. Still in the original post. I cut a lot of branches off and started styling it last fall. I wired it in the spring 2024 and with a lot of wire and elbow grease I was able to create some movement. I'm new to Bonsai, started 3 years ago.
It still has too many branches but I worked it pretty hard and wasn't sure how many would survive. I'm dying to report it but I'm going to try to wait until I see more vigor. I'm a little worried after reading that it buds back so easily. It definitely pushed some new growth this year but the trunk and stems didn't bud at all since I wired it.

Doesn't appear to be grafted, nice find. I'd feed it organic fertilize and fish emulsion regularly during the growing season and see if that doesn't help get some vigor going.

Mine has been a bit neglected, doing ok, just have far nicer material now so it is just wasted time I feel like.
