Bonsai needs rescuing

I have inherited a bonsai tree, does anyone have some advice of how to care for it correctly? I am not sure it looks very healthy at the moment. Thank you in advance.

The leaves seem healthy, but the opposite side of the tree shouldn't be so dry.

Schefflera.
Looks like its planted in coconut fibers.....that's the problem.
It stays too wet for too long and does not drain well.

We need photos from all four sides to advise where to chop off the dead parts which could be done now. Repotting should be left to the active growing season when it can rejuvenate outdoors. This plant is a Ficus microcarpa not a schefflera the top half looks dead and the coconut coir soil it is in is not good.

Keep an eye on the watering letting it dry a little between watering, but not bone dry and repot when the tree is actively growing in the late spring early summer.

Use a free draining bonsai soil when you repot.
