Hi guy, happy holidays!

Recently I have bought my chritmas tree, and its a blue spruce. I was wondering if I could make a bonsai out of it.
I have seen Bonsai Empires video (
), do you guys have any tips or trick? Mainly for the period when it is indoors, and til early spring, I would love to hear your advice.

Its a mid size tree, around 150m/4ft 11inches, with a fairly thick, interesting trunk. That was the reason for its price, it was a bargain.
Its planted in a default plastic store bought christmas tree pot, the substrate is somewhat breathable, but far from bonsai soil.

150m? Dude, that's a steal! I don't know how tall your house is, but I'd reconsider keeping it outdoors.

Now without kidding, a christmas tree indoors for less than one week is no problem for the plant. Two weeks is pushing its health, meaning it will need a year to recover.
If it was dug this year, and thrown in a pot.. Like what happens to most.. Don't touch it until spring 2026.
It can live in a pot like its in for decades, just keep the watering in scope and use a wooden probe like a chopstick.

What bonsai empire did was a good selection up front: a pot grown tree that was never indoors to begin with.
Repurposing a christmas tree can be done, but it will need a recovery year before you can do much work to it.

Good luck and have fun!
