Hi,everyone. I have had this 5’ hinoki for 3 years now. Until now it’s been healthy. In the last couple of weeks, the tips of the leaves have started turning white, and it is spreading. My camera doesn’t take closeups very well, so I hope you can see what I mean. Is this a disease or pest? If so, how do I address it? Thanks for any advice you can give.

I have some experience with one hinoki that's done very well for about eight years -- I suspect due to dumb luck more than anything. Personally, I don't think this looks alarming but I would ensure the tree is getting plenty of sun, as much as possible. Also make sure soil is not overly compacted (is draining freely) and it's getting plenty of water. The thinking is that being in peak growing season (on a tree that's been in your possession for several years), its reaction to water and sunlight would be be my first suspects. Secondly, would be pests or fungus, both of which should be easy to identify and treat if what you're seeing progresses any further.
