It's been repotted this spring in this pot and just slightly pruned.
Could have been wired a bit but i am not aiming at only horizontal pads.
I will be looking for a better and definitive tokoname pot in the future, not sure yet if beige or a little darker blue than the actual with good patina.

I think this tree would ideally need a good developped branche to be grafted using the ebihara method on the right side to balance the first thick one on the left and fill that empty space.
I don't know yet if i will be able to get one from another of my trees or if i will just thread graft from a cutting.

Either way i will need to find the courage to drill a hole in the trunk.

For now, i will just enjoy it this season as it is.

Very nice tree . I like your display . Stone pedestal . Do you grow them there all the time . Seems to me all that stone would be a heat sink . Or is that your intentions . I live Canada zone 4 I don’t worry to much about pots overheating here . 😂😂 but area like you have . I’ve been thinking about . Retain more daytime heat . In spring and fall . As for the maple 🍁 I just wish I could grow it here . Some do but it’s tough . And slow compared to warmer climates .

Thank you.

You are right, the sun hits all the day there and it can be very hot in summer, so i don't ususally leave them there except these days at late afternoon untill the morning so i can enjoy them a bit more.

They are in a bench in full shade during the season, i do use tersace slabs over the wood benches tho, i like to use them as wood tend to have a lot of "insects" and it also looks better.

And sorry to hear that your climate is hard for maples, i guess i am lucky to be in a place where they do well, i am not sure i could live without beeing surrounded by japanese maples.

Oh we have 🍁 maples . Just not from Japan . The native Canadian kind . I live in the heart of sugar maple country in Ontario . Lots of rebrum also . Brilliant fall colour in the forests . I normally play with native trees as bonsai . But I think someday when I have better winter storage capabilities I well buy a Japanese maple bonsai . Take to long here to develop one . Shirt season . One of the few trees I would be willing to purchase . As a finished tree
