Beni Chidori Japanese Maple

I have some Beni Chidori (Acer palmatum) available:
  • Cuttings: $175
  • Grafted plants: $250
Beni Chidori is a rare and highly sought-after cultivar, not commonly offered, especially as cuttings. All plants are healthy, well established, and recently potted in plastic training pots. The grafted plants are significantly larger and more developed than the cuttings, with thicker trunks and established root systems, offering a substantial head start for bonsai development or long-term growing.

Pickup: Lakewood, WA

Shipping + packaging: $25 via FedEx Priority 2-Day

Free shipping on orders of 3 or more plants

Please message if interested. Happy to answer reasonable questions.

Sorry, here are some pictures.

The grafted plants are significantly larger and more developed than the cuttings, with thicker trunks, established graft unions, and stronger root systems. Most grafted plants measure approximately 14–16 inches from the soil line, offering a substantial head start for bonsai development or long-term growing.

The cuttings are smaller, earlier-stage material. They are healthy and well-rooted, but several years behind the grafted plants in trunk caliper and overall development.

Hi are these from VIndustrials stock? Can you share the genetic lineage that allows you to say confidently that it is true beni chidori. Thanks !

Hi, thanks for the question.

No, these are not from VIndustrials stock.

I understand the skepticism around provenance with this cultivar. These were propagated from established, labeled Beni Chidori material.

I’ll post an update once they break bud so the foliage characteristics can be seen clearly.

I wouldn’t say I’m skeptical just that it’s always helpful to know how many steps removed the material is from Japan and having that clearly documented I think is part of paying the premium. Canada Bonsai prices are reflective of a very transparent communication of where the trees and genetics come from that’s all.
