Question? Would it be safe to chop it back, leaving no leaves. I am in central Florida zone 9a/b. I have watched the video,but don't know what season or zone this was done in. Thanks to all. John Geanangel videos.
 
If it were mine, I'd wait until spring, or in the case of it being Florida, wait until you see new growth happen. February or March it will likely be actively growing, that is the time to chop low. You can wait until after blooming if you want, but you can chop before, slightly better to chop before blooming.

Thanks, I will wait till February. I am trying to learn how to post pictures from my phone but, have not figured it out yet.
