Just stratified my seeds from sheffields yesterday and sewed them today. They'll be going outside over the winter, north side in full shade. I want to make sure they get enough days in, we've had a relatively warm winter so far.

Im starting several Q. gambelii, Q. acutissima, and Q. phellos. I got all the acorns from sheffields, and soaked them in water for 24 hours as per their instructions. I was going to sew them in 4 inch seed pots but I seem to have lost my small collection of them, luckily I had 5 pint sized PW pots, should be ideal! 20240104_142941.jpg20240105_153209.jpg

Potted in a normal soil mix or something special?

@czaczaja Promix! So, nothing special. I pretty much use it for anything I don't use aggregate mix for. Houseplants, seed starts, up-potting veggies, growing out material / flower pots.

Just got a huge bag of coco coir for free, might experiment with that + perlite for growing out this year. I do pove my Promix though

Yeah I'm still trying to get my soil mix right and currently experimenting with coco coir, perlite and horticultural sand.
