Hello all... at the request of fellow member tanlu..This is some information about repairing broken branches using crazy or super glue. I think this thread will be most helpful to people that are new to bonsai. Since I do not have pics, I will have to use virts.
It is a simple technique. First, if the branch is still attached to the tree, it can most likely be saved. However, if the branch is completely seperated from the tree, it will probably not work. Basically, you would use either crazy or super glue. You would need to use the gel form, not liquid. Apply one small drop in the middle of the break. In other words, in the center where the heartwood is. Be careful that it doesn't get on the outer part of the break. A little is ok. However, you want to make a tight seal so that the cambium on both sides of the break fuse back together. After you add the drop of glue, press the ends together for maybe 30 seconds to a minute. No wrapping necessary, but you can if you would like to protect the area.
Personally, I would wait maybe 1/2 a season or longer before you try bending the branch again. Also, holding the formerly broken area and maybe bending in a slightly different area might be good. However, and in my experience, the glued broken area is very strong and you will probably be able to proceed with the exact bend that you were trying to achieve before.
This is a very simple and highly effective technique. In most cases, you will barely, if at all, notice that the branch was ever broken.
