and I have to decide what to do with the new leader. Bend it to the right, left or let it go straigh up.
I have made paint simulations to visualize it:

Which one will you chose?

I am not sure I would do anything at this point for fear of breaking off the apex branch... let it grow and thicken at least some. One of the factors that will help you be successful in this hobby is learning to manage the vigor/strenght of your tree. Right now your tree doesn't have enough leaves to give it the energy it needs to grow strongly. Any work at this point could further set back that strength.

In terms of your question, my feeling is that it should go to the right...back against the movement in the trunk. I do notice that there may be a smaller branch on the back or underside of the trunk. If that branch is also going to be considered in your design you should consider it in your decision about the apex branch.

thank for your reply!
I agree, I won´t touch it. I have another arakawa and they have very weak branches. Lets see in a few months...
