Anyone use a coiled metal hose like this one ? I bought a expandable hose but the pressure is not as good as my old rubber hose. I thought this metal covered hose might be better on keeping pressure consistent.

A bonsai friend gave me a 100' one as a gift. It's lite and easy to control and roll up too. Like it!

August 44 how is the pressure ? Is it the same as a rubber hose ? I noticed a pressure drop on my self coiling fabric hose that some times drops too low for a dramm soaker nozzle to put out a fine spray.

Pressure seems good to me. Maybe a little lower than the hose. I use the 100' stainless in the frt yard and this one in the back. This one has to be pressurized/inner tube expanded before you have a good flow.

The stainless steel wrapped hoses have an inner tube that is a smaller diameter than your standard 1/2’ hose (3/8”, I believe), so they don’t flow as much volume. For instance, I can’t use the SS hose to flush my 90 horse boat motor because there is not enough pressure/volume for the water to rise up to the telltale hole. I have to use the 1/2” hose for that.
The SS hose works fine, however with my Melnor watering wand. I love the hose for it’s excellent non-kinking ability, plus it is light and easily dragged around corners and against cinder block bench supports without scraping or damaging the hose.

I have one in my front yard like that. Was in the back. Be careful if it is laying out on concrete it can act like a roller under your feet when walking and maybe cause a slip/fall situation. Nearly broke my neck on it a time or two and put it out front. My sister drove over it and flattened a spot and it still works. Doesn’t coil where she flattened it a bit…I used some pliers to put it back to a round shape and it works tho. Water inside gets hot faster than my rubber hose. Like scalding but quick. I won’t buy another for the safety reason. Other than that it was nice.

Thanks for the great replys . I'll stick to my regular hose. I see the cons are not worth it.

I was pretty excited about this post and checked it out too. I came to the same solution.

Just tried tried the stainless steel hose. The pressure makes it almost unusable. The mist head on my dramm is not engaging and it pours out a slow stream. It is however, very easy to roll up and stuff back in the box for a return.
