That pine is chonky!
Based on the juni color, looks like y’all have had some cold already. It will be interesting to compare how they do for you in VA vs. TX.

Well - I did some filtering before I left and sold most of my tropicals. Of the tropicals I brought, I have to admit that there has been some … self-filtering. I think I just have a couple left. But most of what I brought and still have is doing WAY better - pines, maples, elms, and junipers in particular. A couple of species are not doing quite as well - the boxwoods I collected in Houston (probably Japanese box) are definitely pretty cold sensitive. I’m wintering those in the greenhouse. The olives need winter greenhouse protection as well. But I’ve wintered everything else in an unheated high tunnel and they seem to be doing extremely well in the virginia climate so far (this is my third winter here).
