I forget where I bought this from last year. I know I had it before the Nationals. The ones they had were way more expensive than this one.20240312_120923.jpg
Last year I removed a couple of branches and left it be.
It drained...ok, but stayed too wet in the very organic soil.

I am a fan of the graft job done on this one. Would like to learn how to do this.20240312_125653.jpg

Soil blend is my typical 2:2:2 + (1:1)
Pumice, Lava Rock, Monto Clay, (Pine Bark + D Fir Bark)

Catherine Elizabeth has nice straight bluish needles that are shorter than most JWP.
They are slower growing than other JWP I've had.
If it survives this potting it will be off to a good start.

Very nice. Wet feet usually kills my JWP's and getting it in a free draining mix is what I would have done as well.

Ill
Be very happy if mine arrive and look that good . I’m hopeful mine arrive early . This spring as I want to get them in free draining soil . But am worried . If it’s to late ⏰ I may have to wait till next spring . I like your tree very nice . Little guy I will say that I have got in the habit lately. Of going slower for more success. If the tree arrived from another climate zone . My new norm is to leave it in the nursery soil and get it acclimated to my yard . Then repot . This seems to work better . But the thought of my JWP with wet feet scares me

Removed a single branch from a whorl and pulled a few down growing needles.
Typically a Fall thing, but have to reduce the whorl sooner better than later.DSC_1538.JPG

This part, growth characteristics, I'm liking about this cultivar. Selection of branches not so much. They're all nice really.

A couple of pots for inspiration. Now if I could get @ToNeBCUK to make me one of these a little taller :)
