Amur Maple Trunk Chop

Making hard choices about your collection to focus on what’s best is not too different than a big trunk chop. Looking forward to seeing you share your work on native conifers.

With fall color like that I could never let that one go!!! beautiful!!

Just realized I never posted this pic from last fall :)

Yes, I did love the fall colors….I will confess that I still have one maple. It’s a native Rocky Mountain Maple that I collected with @Hartinez . (Well, Danny mostly collected it and I lent a helping hand, haha). It has great fall colors too. And it doesn’t bud out super early in the spring like the Amur maple, so I don’t have to shuffle it. In fact, I have decided I will not ever shuffle it. Either it will take the native climate or it won’t. Time will tell!

I love that perspective! So true. It’s been fun learning a lot along the way, and looking forward to the next chapter!

I wonder if its possible for you to show the inside of the wooden grow pot. Wondering what the drainage lookes like--are they slits between the boards or drilled small holes thru the board or just a sieve screen stapled across the bottom frame.

I don’t think I have a photo. But I used a drill bit to drill 1” holes in the boards. Then I used a drainage screen with wire just like you would for a bonsai pot. 👍🏼

AH, ok. Got it. Thanks. Did you defoliate your Amur in late spring at all ? I may have missed an earlier post if you mentioned about this.
