Hello Folks,

Just seeking suggestions on where I should air layer my Japanese maple. I’d like to get as many as possible off of this tree and was wondering if it’s ok to attempt 4 or more layering’s this season?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bobby

Thank You.

But, not too much foliage or it will too much for the developing root, do I have that right?

As long as it's still on the mother tree you can have all the foliage the tree puts out. It's still supported by the full root system. When you decide to remove the layer, you might want to cut back the top foliage if you don't have a full set of new roots.

Ok, that makes a lot if sense. Thanks
