Good afternoon, everyone!

I am still with my regular BRT I've had for a span of about 7 months now, and it seems to be doing fine. I am still concerned, however, that there are some things going on with it that I want to be able to fix and improve if possible.

1. The trunk (stem?) of my tree is like peeling off at the bottom, and I am unsure why. It's kind of weird and although I've addressed the issue in the past in previous posts, I haven't been able to find a direct answer to the problem, which could just be because it's hard to tell what's going on with the trunk (stem). Any advice/feedback is appreciated.

2. Leaves are still turning yellow, but falling at a slower pace than previously, which is good. furthermore, there seems to be a good sense of growth in the tree, as I am seeing new meristems popping out. the only thing that's concerning is that the yellow leaves are dispersed throughout the tree more. I also noticed that the leaves turn yellow in random places now, which concerns me. I understand that leaving it inside is not the best course of action, although I unfortunately don't have many other choices. the room is relatively warm, and the tree gets adequate sunlight for where it is. I'm not sure how I am able to alleviate this issue, but any help would be appreciated.

3. when should I start worrying about repotting, or potential issues with the roots in my BRT? for example, how would I know its root bound, and what do I do to fix that? The previous owner of the tree mentioned that I wouldn't have to repot it for at least another year or two, and so I am obviously not looking forward to doing that anytime soon but wanted some knowledge beforehand.

Looks OK to me for a raintree inside during winter. Once it warms up (nights above 40) put it outside and let it rock and roll. The bark exfoliating is a sign of growth usually.
I'd repot when the trunk doubles in size...or when the pot stops draining well is my advice. It needs some heat and sunshine more than anything.

Cool tree, have fun and let it be until it's pushing huge extensions!

Saw your other posts on this tree. All of your concerns are because it's living inside. 100%. Yellowing leaves, trunk funk, spots, etc. It needs more light - sorry to say it but the tree will likely decline more unless something changes.

Over the winter I keep mine in a tent (which isn't required) with a light like this:

It's expensive but I get growth near to what it does in the summer. You can get similar ones for $50 or less. But nothing works as well as just getting it outside for the summertime.

1. Perfectly normal for BRT to peel bark as it grows

2. Again normal for them to shed and replace leaves here and there. Make sure it is getting enough light. I always advise to provide supplemental full spectrum light in the winter. Sun from a window isn't enough imo. Glass filters a lot of light and winter days are shorter. You don't need a tent, mine grow fine under lights without one.

3. I repot mine around July 4th. You fix a root bound tree by repotting and trimming back the roots. You can tell if it's filling the pot by gently scraping away some soil along the edges of the pot and looking for roots up against the walls of the pot.

Have same issues here and just posted about it. Will see if it changes during the summer!
