The image might be balanced but the purple cultivar is very real. Images can be found all over the web. They aren't all doctored.

I've seen this species. It's the even rarer purple "chameleon". Changes colors depending on it's mood.

The image I posted comes from a wholesaler with a good rep. I saw many akin to the one I posted too. So time will tell. I will post the photos of the tree I aquire tho for sure.

Last photo you posted look carefully. Those are WHITE porcelain pots. Why do you think they have a blue hue to them or even the blue glare on the wood in the background. maybe the sun on that plant is a blue dwarf.

It seems you're finding pictures of the most exaggerated shots of this cultivar. Your typical search will show a regular looking Japanese Maple. Purple Ghost doesn't appear as dramatic as the pictures you're finding.
