Air Layer purchased from @Tidal Bonsai this past summer. Repotted today with buds appearing to swell a bit. Going to try for some sort of a windswept clump. Will see how it does!

That looks awesome. Clump styled as windswept is going to be aces.
aesthetics are always so subjective...to my eye those trunk are far too straight to ever make a convincing windswept...and it is doubtful at this point that they could be shaped easily or well. If it were mine, I would be standing them up so that the middle trunk is near vertical. Again IMO windswept style is often tried but very rarely executed well.

Probably the case but im going to try it for now and can always chop/layer/etc if I dont like the overall outcome.

Today:
Air layered the upright branch that needs to come off. Trying to force rooting with a tourniquette below a node. Thick wire holds the air layer in place.
Pounded with fertilizer:
Struck cuttings for the hell of it where I did some minor reductions:

Looks like a handful of the cuttings struck. Will leave them next year to grow out. Separate and repot the following years.

I might chop it soon. When the trunk completely barks up it rarely pops buds.

Just amazed by how beautiful and iconic the arakawas leaf colours look, even thoughs its "just green", you can detect it from a thousand maples (at least me), just from its leafes. Awesome!
