Hey Judy, this is the first I've seen of this tree, I love it! The trunk with it's hollow reminds me of a Ben Oki tree. A hackberry I think, maybe residing at the Pacific Bonsai Museum. Good one!Thought it was a big piece of lichen at first... It sat there all calm watching me while I took all the wire off. Very cute. This maple is growing better this year than any previous one for me. Maybe it's a magic toad.

That is no coincidence, as that hackberry is one of my favorite trees...Hey Judy, this is the first I've seen of this tree, I love it! The trunk with it's hollow reminds me of a Ben Oki tree. A hackberry I think, maybe residing at the Pacific Bonsai Museum. Good one!
No kiddin', how cool is that!! I've had Ben as a long time bonsai buddy even though I haven't seen him in years. He used to tour Florida a good bit and we met and hit it off. I'm in south Georgia and was a member of a group in Tallahassee, Florida at the time. Great bonsai man and teacher, just a great guy..................I'm glad I saw your tree and look forward to seeing it's progress in the coming years. And it'll serve as a reminder of Ben and our times back in earlier days in bonsai. Again............how cool is that!! Thanks much Miss Judy!!That is no coincidence, as that hackberry is one of my favorite trees...![]()
