This is a JM I picked up a few years back. Other than a repot and some minor trims, I haven't done much with it. It has a decent base and I planted this tree over a board. Still debating what to do with the two thicker branches on the right. Ideas always appreciated.

I'd personally remove the upper one on the right. Leaving the bottom one should positively affect the taper. I'd definitely play around with the main leader as well.

Repotted. Roots are coming along nicely.

Looking good. You’ve got lots of fine roots near the trunk that will develop and improve the root spread over time. If this were mine, though , I’d also be cutting back the longer, less ramified roots by 50% with the idea of building taper and ramification there. Have fun with it!
