A Couple of Japanese Larch

I little while back I picked up 2 Japanese Larch from a guy over in Wales who had pot grown them from seed over many years. One had a nice trunk line and one doesn't.
I'm planning to start working at least one of them this weekend if I get time around work, I was wondering what direction you guys would take these in.
First the good trunk line:

I'd do this to the second one.

Then let it grow some.

That's not a bad idea. I'm pretty stumped on what to do with it

#2 looks pretty pisser to me. I might cut back the silhouette to something like this. Then do further selections after some study. Shooting for a semi Cascade. If it's in good soil and is not in need of a repot I'd wire it out too. If it needs a repot maybe just cut back and let rest
