30+ year old Azalea

Seller told me the tree sat in a 15 gal container for over a decade. Not real interesting material, straight trunk sections. The roots fused together unevenly, doesn't look so good. Double trunks look good when one is larger than the other; these trunks are very similar in size...
Tree sat for a year, then was repotted into this box in April 2014. A year later it was put into a smaller Styrofoam container

2/29/2016 - I find this tree flowers 3 times a year. I need to cut the flower buds off this spring and force more vegetative growth. The straight trunk section is going to be layered off this spring. (2017)

The nebari has fused and uneven. It will take years to correct.
