I have a friend who is making a larger Order from ASIA of 1 year old Beni-Chidori specimens deliverd to the US. I know i asked him for several but didn't know if there was anyone else interested. It took me a while to track down. He is also getting Deshojo, Ukon, Seigen, Yama Moiji, and Tridents but those are much more common here in the US. Feel Free to reach out.

First off, welcome to the nut house! Second, the more information you can get the better, there’s many seasoned bonsai veterans poking around on here and information, photos, transparency and honesty goes an LONG way here. Any clues as to pricing, timing etc?

Keep us posted. I would be interested if this is a legit.
Hey Dave I know the order was placed, I know they are 1 year low graft specimen Beni-Chidori that are being imported. Not sure on a timeline but as soon as i have more info i will provide. They are being shipped to the northeast. I am in CT

Is your friend an importer and are they meeting all the requirements to do this correctly? Where in Asia are they coming from? And are you saying the grafts were made 1 year ago? Got any pics?

you joined this site 7 days ago so forgive me, but this is all very suspicious.

Why is this suspicious? My friend who owns a tree farm is importing trees for me as i can not do it. I am sharing it with the community. I am new to Bonsai Nut and was excited to share some great news. Your question are not making me feel welcome at all. The order was place and they will be arriving in the next month. I can take photos then.

Sounds good man, I’m looking forward to seeing what you end up with.

I'm interested. Does your friend import very often? And do you know what the cost will be?
Yes, as far as the cost lets just say its not cheap to import anything! But still an exciting process none the less.

Looking forward to pictures. What is the name of your friends tree farm?

A new member with a friend who is importing 1 year old trees from Asia will raise a few eyebrows. You also provide no information on this friends’ business which should not be a secret as it is a business. Sharing the business name will remove some concerns. The business owner posting themselves instead of someone on their behalf will remove more.

Not sure if common in the US but in Europe I don’t know examples of people importing 1 year old maples from Asia. Nursery quality maples will be produced and grafted locally and imports limit themselves to older (pre-) bonsai.

Edit for clarification: not judging only explaining what I think could be seen as “suspicious“

welcome to the nut house

There is at least one commercial nursery in China with grafted J. palmatum 'beni chidori' (in addition to other trees). I have been talking with them. There are some hoops I would have to jump through in order to get my NC registered nursery license so that I could import them (through the USDA station in Atlanta). I am not in a position to do so for this year - since the trees would come in bare-root, they would almost need to be arriving now for them to have the best chance of survival.

So I look forward to hearing more about this nursery in the US that could be bringing them in. As far as I'm concerned, the more beni chidori in the US, the better!

Just saw this post today, I have been keeping an eye out for a Beni-Chidori Maple for awhile now. I am in NY and would definitely be interested if he is going to have any available. Do you have any more info about these or your friends nursery, thanks.

They are all low grafts. There is no nursery anymore they’re just mine. There are 2 dozen of them. Plus 2 dozen assorted. Beni mako, Beni Zurich( which I’m not even sure of what are) koto hime, Otoha, mikawa nishiki, osakazuki. I am nursing them back to health after their import journey.

If you are looking to part with some of them please keep me in the loop, thanks
