I'm 74 now and started more cuttings and seeds this year and have started saving seeds for next spring. One of my first bonsai mentors, George Yamasaki, lived to 108 and still started new trees every year.

That's my Coast Live Oak in our ABAS show a few years ago. The pot is 18" x 13.5".

I have several of Jim's pots. This is my favorite that I've owned for over 30 years. A yellowish cream rectangle.

Sadly, as I was taking it to my workshop for some cleanup a few years ago the cart overturned, shattering the $400 Walsall pot. The tree never recovered. 😢

For me, suiseki is just as fascinating as bonsai. It shares much of the same esthetics and origins. I love when bonsai and suiseki are displayed together. also, rocks don't need daily watering and they never die. It seems shallow to me to enjoy bonsai but fail to understand the beauty of viewing...

I have several quality pots that, oaf that I am, have been broken. I repaired them with the epoxy and gold mica faux kintsugi method. Is it appropriate to use them for a tree in a major show?
