My little spirea is having an identity crisis

So here is my last little spirea japonica 'anthony waterer'. It has decided to throw a variegated branch! I don't know if they are prone to that but I thought it was cool.

Okay so I'm pulling weeds in my olives yesterday and there were loads of tiny little spiders. I was thinking, I wonder what they could be they look just like tiny black widows. Mind you there are only two things on this planet that I fear. Spiders and scorpions, literally nothing else not even...

    Bald cypress seedling questions

Where my BC peeps at? I have a few questions. First, how aggressive can you be with roots when repotting? Second, do people generally want them tall and straight or cut back for movement? That’s it for now! :)

So you know the level of my mental illness, I'm driving around Phoenix and of course, I am watching the landscape more than the road (don't you all??) ANNNNYway I spot this olive tree (they are common in landscape here) with crazy bark. Most times they are much smoother. What do you all think?

    Lantana camara ‘Gold Mound’

The wife hates the lantanas that came with our house 3 years ago. When they put them in they were just little 1 gal plants. Granted they are not great for bonsai. So today she tells me to rip it out throw it away, and put her stone pine in the hole. Not one to throw away a perfectly good plant...

    Plant Pathologists HELP!

Never in my life have I had something like this that was so difficult to treat. I used Daconil and it pretty much went away then came back with a vengeance. Boug Score!

A wonderful person, who is not even into bonsai, decided to post on a FB bonsai group that she was getting rid of all the bougainvilleas in her yard. She heard from someone that they made good bonsai so she asked if anyone wanted them. Turns out she was pretty close to me and I actually drive...

    Premna Cuttings Started

Just a thread to document when and how I am attempting to propagate some premna cuttings. Many people call this premna microphillia but I don't think that is correct. Microphillia is the maple-leaf shaped one otherwise known as 'musk maple' or 'neem tree'. This one is the round shape that is...

Vitex agnus castus 'corteza áspera' cuttings

Finally getting around to trying some cuttings for my Vitex agnus castus 'corteza áspera' I'm using the same technique that I used for my other cuttings this year. Taking 5-7" semi-hardwood cuttings dip in clonex and put in a 5" azalea pan with bonsai soil then into a zip lock bag. It was so...

    malpighia glabra 'margarita' cuttings

Thread to document efforts to propagate Barbados Cherry malpighia glabra 'margarita'. On 7/16 took several mostly softwood (slightly lignified) cuttings. I scratched the cambium and dipped in Clonex. Put in my regular soil and sealed in 1gal ziplock. (Same technique used successfully with...

Two of my babies are back home!

Some of you know that in 2018 I basically lost everything. Job, house, most of my possessions, and all but a few trees. @AZbonsai babysat two of my vitex during that time and he has done great with them and graciously allowed me to take them back. He even made one of the pots! I have said many...

2nd Hongkong Kumquat, Fortunella hindsii (Kinzu)

So here is my second Kinzu (Golden Bean kumquat). This was a surprise as the nursery sent a second one. I notified them and they said to just keep it :) Talk about your happy accidents!
