    The Tree Thread

Interesting...These look pretty good together. I'm undecided about these 2 Christmas berry's. They're all leafed out now; quite bushy. And the soil line will be lower, showing the thick connection wider base. So a separating cut would be obvious. Here's a quick and dirty shot. BTW this is the...

    Wazakura Bonsai Tools

Me too. I throw a ball with my right hand but write with my left but can also write with my right slowly. Kitchen knife with right but fine delicate work with my left. (dental lab) and can paint with both. Interesting fact: 25% of astronauts are lefties. Way above the average. We know what that...

    Ohi'a Lehua yamadori

I let this Ohi'a Lehua grow wild for a bit so she could display her liko. http://hawaiianforest.com/wp/liko-lehua-the-young-leaves-of-ohia-lehua/ About 250-300 years.

Airlayer Question on a Trident Maple

Another method which I prefer is to fit a container around the branch, fill with an open media with moss on top. The roots can extend out to form the beginng of the nebari instead of bunching up in plastic or foil. Also it's been found that layers are more successful with live rather than dried...

    Feeding air layers

When the roots go from white to light brown, I feed with a weak solution of liquid fert. with this, if using foil.

Guess Eisei En found its apprentice...

Since my move down from the rain forest (big mistake) into a "city," sort- of, I'm watching the tube more and really enjoying Bjorn at Eisei-en Bonsai on YOUTUBE. A gifted teacher and all around decent human being IMNSHO.

    Willow-leaf ficus all wired up...

Willow leaf ficus wired up. Before and after. Black stuff was not a problem 'till it moved from sea level to 1200 feet and a lot more rain. So far nothing works to remove it. Any ideas?

    Massive jaboticaba yoseue...

I talked my student into buying this jaboticaba group during the sale of a large collection here in Hilo. It had run amok and was so intimidating and heavy none of the others stepped up to the plate. I guess I wanted to insure I'd be busy for the rest of my life, like there wasn't already enough...

    Variegated ficus microcarpa

:D230" per year. ficus don't mind. Normaly I could cut this tree in half and it would sprout at the cut.

It's a friends. I sold him most of my collection and work on them there. It's an amazing botanical wonderland.

    Variegated ficus microcarpa

See pic. I ask because variegated leaf sections don't have the chlorophyll of green sections, photosynthesis is typically less efficient, and many variegated plants show weaker growth.

    Variegated ficus microcarpa

Thanks Mateo. I'm asking for a friend..If it were mine I'd dump it or cut WAY back and begin anew. Here's the view when I turn around. And what I see when I'm "working." Oh and a better ficus.
