    ID help please.

I know there are some people that lurk here and am hoping to lure them out with this challenge. I don't know much about this pot. I have lusted over it for 35 years. Had to wait for the original owner to give it up, to a friend whom he offered it to because he had the means to buy it right away...

    Squashed Pines

I been reading a lot at Bonsaify, Eric Schrader, great guy and very good at bonsai. I have met him before and he is as nice in person as in his video's. What I wanted to tell is that he did the same things with small plants in the beginning by placing them on tiles, pots, and wood in order to...

    Squashed Pines

An area in the back of the property was prepared to grow them out and prepared bonsai soil was mixed in 50/50 with the sandy loam. Each tree was planted and then I added some bamboo hoops so I don't trip over them and I know where they are when I come thru with the weed sprayer. Tomorrow I will...

    Squashed Pines

Well today was pine day. The pines came later in the evening yesterday and when I got home today I started right in on making the future trees. They came in individual capsules of potting medium out of what I can imagine was a test tube. Very neatly packed and came very quickly. They came from...

    Korean Hornbeam....what to do?

I just want the shape, a lot will grow out of it and smooth out. It is a fact that out of the ordinary twisted material always sells first. Even if the buyer has no clue what to do with it, just the look sells. The vendor always goes back home with trees that look like trees.

UREA and it only comes in 50 pound bags or larger and is designed to be used in the commercial farming trade which means that it can carry a 50 percent or more premium. But Urea is expensive to make but it is good, really good.

Protocol for germinating Korean Hornbeam seeds?

I took my seeds out of the packet and threw them in a small pot, and let nature do its thing.

    Korean Hornbeam....what to do?

So as previously mentioned I found several clay pots under my benches that had been placed in the drip line of larger trees. This was due to the fact that last year I built a completely new watering system on my benches. This particular pot contained Korean hornbeams. I removed them from the pot...

    Soil Confusion!

A lot of things in the world have changed since I was here for decades ago. Not for the good either. Bonsai has become one of those hobbies that could be done on a scale that was possible twenty years ago for hardly any money at all. Since covid and inflation, bonsai has become a hobby for the...

    Soil Confusion!

Remove tree and tease away soil. Trim root back 50 percent and can be repotted right back in same container. Don't over think soil nor get caught up in hype about how bonsai soil has to be magical. Soil around a tree is there in nature because it offers an anchorage point for roots so the tree...
