I Received these at the Funeral of my Wife's Grandmother. They were the 1800 Flowers products, in crappy soil which I replaced. I didn't do much in the way of styling a few branches trimmed. Just gonna let them grow for a season.
For the past few days I have really been thinking of finding a boxwood somewhere and digging it up. Taking something abandoned giving it a loving home and some structure. Maybe that is just me justifying my urges to do something rash and destructive.
I'm crazy of course I name my trees. Ir would be rude to talk to them and not address them. By the way the nieghborhood skunk Slim Stinky just walked by.
I cried a little. I Learned Lot. I have had about 10 percent of my trees die. It hurts! I have a dead Ficus on my bench that I look at daily as a reminder that I am not as good as I will become.
Well these are some of my 2016 experiments that are still living. A spiral willow cutting that I named "DJ Salix" . A common Juniper which I made my first slab planting attempt named " Monarch". A Buckthorn I call " Bucky Barnes". All were collected last year and somehow survived the winter.
The tree was about 8 feet tall before I cut it . Both Dogwood and Penn Ash fit the leaf shape and grow in this zone. All I can really do is wait for seeds or flowers to get more info.
Well I collected this tree this spring. It is doing well but I have yet to figure what it is. Beech, Birch, Cottonwood. It's not an Oak or Maple. If anyone can help Thanks. If not the Truth will come in due time.
Decided to resurface and post an updated pic of my Green Island . I pruned it right before the growing season and it is making good progress. Next year it will get a proper pot .
Ohh Wow! Uploading pics has gotten smoother in my absence! Bravo!
Oh well I reckon I should show my Benjaminas . I love this fickle trees, maybe because they are difficult to care for and tend to look great once or twice a year. I have five of them and keep telling myself not to get another. (I do prefer Green Island Ficus over Benjis even thou I have more...
Bogies back bud wonderfully! I think you should just let it grow and see what you get. From my experience they look very mature quickly. And that price was close to a steal.
