    Golden Bean From Seed

Twenty? Psh. I think under 10 for sure. I think it will surprise you how fast they develop when fertilized well. Happy to see it doing good

Montpelier Hard Cut or Layer HELP

I have been reading about maple pruning timing a lot recently. For me, it seems I have a terrible time dealing with fungus on my deciduous. So, I felt I needed to reevaluate my techniques. Previously I would root prune and trunk chop/prune at the same time, before bud break. I have purchased...

    CM BONSAI——-My Garden Activities

By the way... The video series that @cmeg1 mentioned learning a lot of his info from, the Harley Smith master series, is now free on YouTube. Many of the videos are applicable even if you do not grow hydroponic. It is well worth your time to play them in the backround while you work on trees...

Ficus dry but drops leaves when watered

I suggest adding some long fiber sphagnum moss to a bowl, letting it hydrate for a few hours, and then applying a layer of it covering the entire surface of the pot. That should help it stay more humid until you can get to a repot down the line.

    Japanese Cherry Blossom Care

chokecherry... I'm not sure what the sellers problem is, but he definitely doesn't know what this tree is. This is not chokecherry. Any tree commonly called a chokecherry has an inflorescence of many small white flowers. Usually it's talking about Prunus virginiana. Either way, it's a cool...

    Ultimate Maple Smackdown!!!

This cultivar is new to me, but given how young this tree is, the bark is likely going to make for a great one to work with. According to the catalogue, it is the roughest bark JM to date and develops it the fastest. Hubberts super cork japanese maple. This particular one is grafted but others...

    Pushing back Sekka

Bryan from bonsailearningcenter also told me he sprays for fungus and thinks the sekka may be prone to infections too, just an fyi

    Pushing back Sekka

Thanks for the links 🙏 I watched Eric's videos, but he wasn't certain how they would respond, so it was cool to see they survived even the 90% reduction. Looks like I have to wait until summer to chop them. He mentions a Japanese blog too, that guy has some amazing stock with fast progression...

    Pushing back Sekka

These sekka are 2 maybe 3 years old from cutting. I left the wire on and they unfortunately scarred, they grow quick, but I am hoping they will not be noticeable in time. I do not understand the principle of pushing back, or maintaining dense foliage, on sekka. It does not develop the fronds as...

    BALD CYPRESS

How deep is this pot Sergio? I find that my BC's roots grow disproportionately aggressive compared to the foliar growth, and pushes itself out of the pot by summer. Making pots this shallow challenging. Perhaps this pot is deeper than I think? Need I say, phenomenal attention to detail as usual

For the love of Prunus mume...

I was reading on evergreengardenworks about how he, despite the common practice of avoiding this, will immediately start fertilizing cuttings (and likely airlayers) even with freshly grown roots. No direct experience here, but it would interesting to see if it helps it recover from yellowing...

    Repotting Setup

I didn't bother cleaning up for the picture.... on the left you can see a hole in the metal. There's a trashcan under it, I just slide the mess in there after. Just make sure to build it taller than a standard counter height

    Carpinus turczaninowii

I have an ounce of these seeds, they are maybe 3 years old but have been stored properly. I'm going to plant some but absolutely don't need as much as I have. Let me know if anyone wants some. I know 3 years ago I got some germination, no idea how they would fair now but I'm sure at least some...
