    It's not a Bonsai but

Over the past 4 years I've worked on it carefully. Not that you can notice other than the tree approximately the same size I wanted to share the nice color that it has this year.

    24" Plum

I've let this tree sit for two or three years after the damage. I don't think anything is "going to come back". I've tried nipping the ends if the growth to see if I could get some backbudding but so far nothing but a small sprout at the bottom. It appears that the live portion of the tree is...

    New Boxwood Project

So it's been 6 years and I haven't done a thing with this bush. Work & life just didn't leave time. Now that I'm retired I think I will have more time. Of course only time will tell, we never know. Below I have photos of all four sides of the bush. It hasn't changed as far as the eye can see...

    Keep or Toss?

Did the chop 2 months ago. No sprouts developed along the cut line. Chopped another 1/2 inch or so about 2 - 3 weeks ago. No sprouts around cut line but quite a few elsewhere. Sit & wait, graft? Any ideas?

    Need some help on Elm

Don't know if I'm liking the upper most segment after the chop. From the top of the rough portion up it just doesn't appear natural. Don't know if it is the texture of the bark the makes it feel that way, if it is too straight or what. Any opinions?

    Need some help on Elm

Most of that makes sense. The reason I was chopping shorter is that there is a buldge in the trunk. What about shortening some of the side branches? I'll look at it again tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

    Need some help on Elm

Here is the tree the other day. The photo that Bobby used must be at least several years old. One thing I arrived at is that I think I'd like to chop where marked in blue or maybe even a bit lower. Looking at it from this angle I also have some branches that circle around. I would assume that...

    Need some help on Elm

I just did some root work last year. Other than that I just let it grow. Today I pulled it out, what a mess. I just rough trimmed some overgrowth. Now I am more at a loss than ever. Seems that I have numerous branches on the same plane as each other. I also see a problem and think the apex needs...

    Keep or Toss?

Just chopped this late last week. Looking forward to seeing some sprouts. Thanks for the input. Jamie

    Keep or Toss?

First would not healing. Not sure if I should wound it again or give up. I'm going to do a flat cut this time but was seeking some input on the location.

    Keep or Toss?

I'm kinda running behind on this project but I think I'm ready for another chop to keep some movement going. I'm thinking of cutting where the red line is marked. Anyone got any input? Also after several tries I can't get the first chop to heal over. Time to give up or keep trying. Thanks for...

    Need some help on Elm

You would have to see the whole conversation to understand what went on. I'm trying to learn different ideas, methods etc. While I very much appreciated the help and told him so numerous times i was just trying to understand why the situation was not correct and if I was the only one not...

    Need some help on Elm

ChefB - Smoke had an issue with me asking for opinions when he made a suggestion. Bobby - I will watch the video and always find him interesting. I agree with the problem areas that you have addressed. The apex seems to be the one of the major issues with this tree. I agree that it lacks...
