to much shade and moist, still air. it'll be totally fine, but introduce it to more sunlight and air flow very slowly. Like penumbra said, it's powdery mildew rom being overly wet and shaded. don't do anything drastic.

Sounds like an OK minimum, but the duration of sun will be changing all season long. And it might not be linear, depending on over head obstacles, amount of daylight and the suns position in the sky

I don’t see a lot of them either. The only thing I can guess is that the apple-cedar-rust thing scares people away. Beautiful trees though. Especially if you can keep leaf spots at bay
