Is this acer toast this season?

didn't realize it was planted in the ground. definitely relocate it next spring but don't add insult to injury this year. Just leave it be. til 2025 (location wise). I can't recommend any treatments because I just move my mildewy stuff and it gets better, I've been in your position before though.

to much shade and moist, still air. it'll be totally fine, but introduce it to more sunlight and air flow very slowly. Like penumbra said, it's powdery mildew rom being overly wet and shaded. don't do anything drastic.

Not sure which mulberry I'm dealing with. Red or white?

I have heard they hybridize (on this forum) but I don’t know if that’s true. Our native red mulberry is fairly rare and very picky about where it grows. Where as white mulberry is invasive and will grow everywhere, and does grow everywhere. There are never less than 5 white mulberries in my...

    Chamaecyparis forest over slab.

Didn’t realize there was such a cool cultivar my native “swamp cypress”. Very impressive composition, especially considering it will only get better.

First Season, Bonsai Bench Placement Advice

Oh!! And remember to move the trees slowly into full sun or they will get nuked! It sounds silly but if you move the bench 10” at a time or something like that you can ease it into a sunnier location.

First Season, Bonsai Bench Placement Advice

Watering my trees with a can is one of my favorite parts of the day. You can always have two spots for your trees too. The current area for things like satsuki azaleas, and a place to move deciduous trees to in the dog days of summer/heat waves. And then a second bench for sun loving things like...

    Japanese Maple Sun Requirements

Sounds like an OK minimum, but the duration of sun will be changing all season long. And it might not be linear, depending on over head obstacles, amount of daylight and the suns position in the sky

    Beginner NJ Native Bonsai

As far as I can tell (sans experience) your best native deciduous is American hornbeam (american elm is close second) But Pitch pine is the official mascot of NJ so, you gotta..

    gnarly red maple

Always heard he was the authority on Red Maple but I've only ever seen small grainy photos of his stuff. in my mind he's some kind of ruburm wizard.

    gnarly red maple

I think that’s the best rubrum trunk/root base I’ve ever seen

    Shogun’s Crab Apple Bonanza

I don’t see a lot of them either. The only thing I can guess is that the apple-cedar-rust thing scares people away. Beautiful trees though. Especially if you can keep leaf spots at bay
