    Arakawa Japanese Maple

Thanks for the answers about pinching. I'm in the phase of slowing down with one of my arakawa's. The result was okay last year but since it's a smaller tree I have to be careful...

    Arakawa Japanese Maple

This tree is a great source of inspiration for me, so I’ve gone through the thread again. However, I couldn’t find a post about pinching. Do you use pinching, or do you mainly work with scissors? Since Arakawa has coarser growth than regular maples, its first push tends to produce larger internodes.

They grow slow once they are in small pots. Some buds produce just a cluster of leaves, others produce shoots. Depending on what you want you can select growth, prune back and reduce leaves. Difficulty is to predict where the new shoots will appear. Mine lost his top, the rear bench of the car...

    Acer Pal - Newest Addition

Great progression on this tree. I wouldn't pinch at this stage. Let it grow, wire, cut back. Great find under the soil and nice to see this one will have great bark.

    Taxus Baccata Fastigiata) Irish Yew

First goal is to fix the primary branches. They take a bit longer, so let the wire dig in the first few times. Baccata has a more natural and curvey tertiary growth, but I've seen nice results on bigger trees. I've got one, but I style is as a flame... Long way to go.

30+ Year Old Pinus Silverstris “Beuvronensis” in 5 Gallon Pot

Hi, I don't consider myself as a pine expert. First step is getting the tree more vigorous by repotting. The strong roots will be at the outside of the rootball. Leave the core intact during the first repot and focus on the bottom. First dig and expose the nebari, then remove the mat at the...
