What happens / why can't pond baskets be properly watered?

The soil looks very compact, you should watch out with overwatering. (that moss will also keep the soil moist).

I think most of it will get chopped off in the future, but, you cannot have too much practice in wiring!

I should have chopped mine also, I only planted it deep for new roots.
