    Merriggioli “mighty trunk” - confused

Most wouldnt cut back their trees as hard as in the video, in any season. Sometimes you gotta take a few steps back, to make one step forward.

    Hornbeam No.11 progression

Are you creating a hollow on the Tree, Maros? I noticed the scar when you shared it on FB and I know its not like you to create this type of feature intentionally, so my first thought was something prompted you to do this, maybe an imperfection in the bark or some type of injury. If you do...

Then you could just keep it at nursery material, pricepoint under a 100, show a receipt for entry. I also like the raft idea.

    Japanese Maple

Pretty sure the base has thickened, since ive been allowing the stems to grow unrestricted all season. Recently cut back the low left branch and selected a stem moving upwards as want to raise the canopy and let the first left branch develop into a subtrunk.

    Pretty impressive

These Hackberries and Tridents have mostly been developed in the ground, 15 to 20 years from seed. Some real stonkers here

What should a hornbeam look like?

European Hornbeam primary branches tend to be up n out, the secondaries will often dip to horizontal, tertiary branches curling up to the light. You can likewise find secondary limbs rising up. You will get some primary branches that might emerge from the trunk more horizontal than upwards too...

    Is this trident worth it?

Yes its where a root was cut back, the high root can be seen in one of the pics. Removed because a high root would look ugly on this tree. Yes I preferred the tree at a slight different angle, which highlights its subtle taper and sinuous trunk line.

    The end of spring repotting?

I did two Beeches at the back end of Aug. Doesn't look like they even noticed. https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/fagus-sylvatica-tree.60825/post-1204441

Hi there, I sold the Birch. It was in a deep pot on a tile for a long time, then it was in the ground also on a tile, it had great radial roots because of this.
