    Bonsai Irrigation

I do not use this feature. It is for lawns I guess. I base watering on how long it typically takes that specific tree to dry out.

    Cedrus Brevafolia

Very hard to find these for bonsai or the nursery trade. Here is my 3 year old from seed.

    Cedrus Atlantica

It was unplanted by a squirrel. I will have to try again in spring and wrap in some kind of netting

    Chojubai root over rock start

Ironically, I have a crabapple directly beside the quince. It’s doing great. Here is also a close-up of the foliage. Color looks good to me, but no growth extension. If it does what it has done in years past, it will shoot off a few new growths as the season goes by.

    Chojubai root over rock start

Just wanted to see if anyone else has a similar experience. The quince from the thread above continues to do just fine. It looks healthy and flowers well and leaf color is good. I use organic fertilizer maybe 3 to 4 times a year. Which seems to be plenty for my other trees. But the quince just...

    Bonsai Irrigation

This system is still running well. As an update for any one running micro emitters I would strongly suggest placing two as below. Nearly lost a nice beech last year when an emmiter got clogged. I have a micro filter on mine, but still it malfunctioned. Placing two allows you to see if one stops...

    Watering wand

I can vouch for this one. Was a much finer spray than the dram 1000 red one.

    Greensboro NC Bonsai…

Ironically, Skip is who sold me the seedling lace leaf maple in this post for 5$. https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/laceleaf-japanese-maple-seedling.62542/

Definitely call before you go. Pretty incredible what he has built up there. Would hate for you to miss it and he is very responsive.

    Greensboro NC Bonsai…

I think his name is Skip. I called earlier this year and he closed his nursery. I don’t remember what it was called but I stopped by several times. Would strongly suggest Bonsai Learning Center around Statesville it is pretty close.

    Cedrus Atlantica

Well here is a bit of an experiment. Several people have recommended growing trees on slabs in 100% muck. Well I did not want to risk one of my nicer trees, so this cedar seedling got potted up about 3 months ago and has looked fine. Will see how it does over winter. If it stays happy, once it...

    Laceleaf Japanese maple seedling

I find it interesting that the laceleaf forms of Japanese maple are not developed more for bonsai. I know that the majority of them are grafted and have some traits like long Internodes that are less desirable, but they have an exceptionally graceful quality to them. I have seen some good...
