Keep at it! Let it grow out as much as you can bear it and then chop it back. When you chop it back then it should back bud well for you. I am working on one also. A tiny leaf variety.

There are many that believe tropicals like ficus are not bonsai. That’s ok. I will keep working my houseplants with pride, in Iowa, under lights in winter.
