    Willow leaf f. Cutting

I’ve had good luck with spider farmer. My first panel was not adjustable and gave out pretty quickly but they replaced it at no cost to me. I have the replacement and two others that are adjustable and they grow my ficus over winter. They also grow my hosta seeds. It’s great to see a company...

    Figs in bonsai shows

I have been to a few Iowa shows, not nearly as many as I should have gone to. I posted one about the Iowa state fair and got some historical pics of a good one! This was 2017 and the salicaria ficus is easily 3ft wide. Pretty impressive. There were others but this one was a beast!

What’s going on in amcoffeegirl’s backyard

I have caged my succulents and my seed grown hosta to protect them from critters. I have been hybridizing my own hosta for a couple of years now. I’m having a lot of fun with this! A couple will be officially named within 2 years and be registered hosta. I have an ivy that I’m trying to bulk...

I think this one is starting to fit the vision in my brain. And the benches have remained full with the same trees. I’m not killing them so that’s good!

Squirrels targetting ONE of my jades only

I don’t have a photo and it’s night time now but I bought a dog kennel cage and put my succulents in there to keep the squirrels away this year. Also my neighbors have chickens this year that keep coming over and eating stuff- another pest to worry about. I do love my squirrels too so I gotta...

    Literati ivy bonsai

Keep at it! Let it grow out as much as you can bear it and then chop it back. When you chop it back then it should back bud well for you. I am working on one also. A tiny leaf variety.

I know I won’t change anyone’s mind about jade but Jim Smith (RIp) was a well known master bonsai artist who created large Jade bonsai that I admire very much. Also Little Jade bonsai on IG, I have been following for years! I can’t imagine my collection without a few of them. They are so easy...

There are many that believe tropicals like ficus are not bonsai. That’s ok. I will keep working my houseplants with pride, in Iowa, under lights in winter.

    Ficus Nerifolia

This image is really nice! It takes them a little longer to fill out than I thought it should but they are very forgiving to the chopping process. That’s for the detailed progression!
